>A Long Bus Ride Home…

>Can we start the New Year over? Goodness…two weekends of hockey yield consecutive sweeps for the RedHawks, after a 4-0 Sunday afternoon loss at Michigan. Carter Camper and Justin Mercier both sat out of today’s lineup with reported injuries. Mercier was said to have a leg injury and Camper’s condition is not known. No matter the ailment, this is not good for a Miami team currently lacking offensive firepower. In 2009, Miami has been outscored 16-5 in four games, as Coach Enrico Blasi still looks to pick up career win number 200.

Here now, Miami’s record, through the first four games of each new year, under Blasi:
2000: 1-2-1
2001: 1-3
2002: 1-3
2003: 1-2-1
2004: 2-2
2005: 1-2-1
2006: 1-2-1
2007: 2-2
2008: 3-1
2009: 0-4

His next chance to do that will be this weekend…a two game home series against hapless Michigan State. Hopefully, with the return to Cady Arena, the ‘Hawks will find that scoring touch that they seemed to have lost over the last two weekends.
Miami is now five points behind first place Notre Dame in the CCHA and just two points ahead of third place shareholders Nebraska-Omaha and Alaska, who meet up next weekend in Fairbanks.
0-4 in 2009. Not good. It’s going to be a long bus ride home…
